We couldn’t do without our brilliant volunteers. They contribute so much to the hustle and bustle of Centre 81 and help members to get the most from their time with us.
It’s important that volunteers feel comfortable in their surroundings, in their role and in their work. If you would like to join us, you will be invited to drop in for a chat and a look around the centre before making a decision.
Volunteers can fill a variety of roles – anything from working one-to-one with members to food preparation, washing-up, gardening or office work. You may be able to share special one-off skills, such as helping members with sailing, swimming, baking, singing, drama or many other activities. Some of our drivers are volunteers and undertake the same training as our employed drivers.
We do our best to ensure that all Centre 81 volunteers get a real sense of satisfaction and fulfilment from what they do. After all, you may be volunteering for a whole range of reasons:
- To give something back to the community.
- To put something positive on your CV.
- To use your spare time constructively.
- To put your skills to good use – or develop new ones.
- To keep busy now you have retired.
- To make a difference.
Come and see us
Whatever the reasons, we’d like to meet you. All volunteers are subject to a positive Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and training is provided as required for your volunteering role. Centre 81 welcomes and respects diversity, and our equal opportunities approach extends to members, volunteers and staff.
